NYE Bowl Bets

With the CFB semi-finals over, its time to turn our heads to the New Year’s Eve bowl games. Here are the best bets for those bowl games.

Oregon Ducks (-1) vs Michigan State

The Big Ten had a rough two days with Purdue and Michigan getting massacred by SEC schools, this time Michigan State will travel all the way to California to face Justin Herbert and the Ducks. Oregon has a high powered offense that beat Washington early in the year. MSU has not had to face a QB like Herbert in the Big Ten, and the closest they came (Shea and Haskins) were both double-digit losses. With the difference in travel for both teams, I expect a home crowd and a large win for the Ducks.

Oklahoma State (+9.5) vs Missouri

This game has two very high powered offenses, with Drew Lock leading Mizzu and the Big 12 style of Oklahoma State. Oklahoma State, while 6-6 has kept all but two games under 8 point losses. Late in the year, Oklahoma State got hot, beating at the time #6 Texas, #9 West Virginia, and only falling to Oklahoma by one point on the road. Oklahoma State is unlikely to lose by double digits the way they are playing at the end of the year. Give me the points in this one.

Northwestern vs Utah (Under 46)

These are two teams built on defense. Northwestern almost won the Big Ten with the 3rd best defense in the conference, while Utah ranked 2nd in the Pac-12 in defense. Bowl games often have sloppy QB play after teams take a month off, and neither team had an explosive offense, to begin with. These teams allow less than 40 points combined per game, I would take the under 46.
