Christian Wood is currently destroying the G League and the Bucks need to call him up to their roster ASAP. Wood is currently averaging 27 points, 13 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks a game. He is an effective rim protector and can knock down a 3 if he is open, sitting at 3rd in the entire G League in scoring and rebounds per game. Wood appeared in 6 games thus far for the Bucks, but hasn’t played with them since December 5th. He tore up the Summer League, averaging 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks a game, which earned him a spot on the All NBA Summer League First Team. The Bucks back up bigs include Thon Maker, Ersan Ilyasova, DJ Wilson, and Jason Smith. All have valuable roles within the rotation, but I think Wood should get a chance to steal minutes from 1 of the current back ups. His limited performances in the NBA have been solid. These included an 11 point 5 rebound effort in only 10 minutes of action vs Portland. He shot 5-6 from the field that game and 1-2 from 3. I think the Bucks should give Wood a shot to prove he belongs in the rotation. In the small sample size we have, he has proved that he deserves that opportunity.
