The National Championship is set. Texas Tech and Virginia have both been defensive powerhouses this year and points will be at a premium on tonight. The two players tasked with creating shots for their team will be guarding each other. Those two talented men are Kyle Guy and Jarrett Culver.
Jarrett Culver is the clear offensive leader on TTU averaging 18.6 ppg. His length will be an issue for Virginia. He also leads Texas Tech in rebounds while shooting 47.1% from the field.
Kyle Guy, on the other hand, is the leading scorer on Virginia, but by a much smaller margin. Guy is the go-to-guy at the end of the game as shown against Auburn and has a quick release allowing him to get off shots over great defenders.
Guys ability to operate against Culver’s length will likely cause issues, but Kyle Guy was Mr. Basketball in Indiana and is now a Junior. He has been at this level for three years and seems to be stepping up as of late after early struggles in his tournament career. I believe Virginia pulls out the win behind the hot hand of Guy. This will be the matchup to watch on Monday, Culvers ability to lock down Guy while still scoring on the other end will be a huge factor in the National Championship game.
