Jalen Hurd, former Tennessee running back and Baylor wide receiver, is my favorite boom or bust candidate in this draft. After beginning his career as a 4-star recruit signed to play running back at Tennessee and rushing for over 4600 yards and 20 touchdowns, Hurd transferred to Baylor to play wide receiver. This weekend, Hurd was drafted in the 3rdround and immediately walked into a perfect storm situation.
Jalen Hurd and the 49ers offense are a match made in heaven. Kyle Shannahan is one of the most creative offensive minds in the NFL. He has a proven track record of leading strong offenses during his time as the Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator and during the few games Jimmy Garappolo started for the 49ers before getting injured. Hurd is going to immediately step in and become a creative playmaker out wide and out of the backfield for the 49ers.
With Jimmy Garappolo coming back from injury and the only returning offensive playmakers being Marquise Goodwin and George Kittle, Jalen Hurd has the opportunity to become a versatile piece in what should be one of the most explosive and creative offenses in the NFL under Kyle Shannahan.
