Indiana University Men’s Basketball landed their first piece of the 2020 recruiting cycle in Culver Academies’ guard Trey Galloway on Saturday. Rated a 3-star recruit and the second-best player in Indiana, Galloway will bring transition scoring and high basketball IQ to Bloomington. At 6’5 Galloway can play shooting guard and slide to small forward in smaller lineups and should help bring floor spacing to a Hoosiers team that has lacked perimeter scoring and shooting during Archie Miller’s tenure.
During his time at Culver, Galloway has been to back to back 3A state championships, winning in his first appearance in 2018.
The most important part of Galloway’s commitment is that it gets the ball rolling for the 2020 recruiting class. As the first commitment, Galloway now becomes a recruiter for the Hoosiers. His first task: getting his AAU teammate and Bloomington native Anthony Leal to commit to the Hoosiers. Additionally, Galloway’s commitment hopefully will put pressure on top 100 targets like Matt Cross, Caleb Love and RJ Davis to commit to the Hoosiers.
Trey Galloway’s commitment is the recruit to be joining the Hoosiers from the 2020 class. His fit as a versatile guard will be extremely valuable to IU during his career. With many more months to go until the end of the 2020 recruiting window, IU fans can expect Galloway to continue to work on his game and recruiting other top talents to join him in Bloomington in the near future.
