With the 2019 season winding down the Cincinnati Reds have found themselves in a more favorable position than they have in recent years. Although they are just 60-68, they could still go .500 for the season by finishing out the year 22-14. After three straight ninety loss seasons, this would be an incredible jump for them. Factoring in the fact that they have aligned one of the best rotations in baseball with Luis Castillo, Trevor Bauer and Sonny Gray, a positive finish could provide a spark in Cincinnati going into the 2020 season.
On the flip side, if the Reds go 14-22 or worse to end the season, that would make for the fourth consecutive ninety loss season. It’s definitely possible that this could happen, and it would be extremely disappointing considering how exciting this season has been.
Hopefully this youthful, but an experienced team can end the season on a high note and build toward a postseason run in 2020.
